This seminar was well received by all who participated last year and is expected to sell out quickly.  Bruce takes stretching to a new level within the spa environment based on Aaron Mattes’ clinical approach. In this 2-day class the participant will be learning specific routines, which will be broken down into three segments:  neck, shoulders, and lower body.  All routines will have hands on segments to warm the tissue and teach the participant a series of stretches and the muscles involved in those stretches. Your clients will be amazed by the fluidity of your work and it’s therapeutic benefits.

This is a 2 day 16 CEU class

Participants should bring a fitted sheet and face cradle cover.

Local participants should bring a massage table.

Bamboo-Fusion

Nathalie Cecilia

www.bamboo-fusion.com

This is a must take class especially if you are doing a lot of deep tissue and chair massage.  You will have the privilege of being instructed by the founder of this unique and amazing therapy.  Some of our Board members had the honor of meeting Nathalie and her colleague Karen Lay in Arizona last Fall at National Convention. We are so excited that they are traveling to us from Florida to offer this class to our members. It is a truly amazing modality in its’ simplicity and power. Bamboo-Fusion is a full body routine that is performed on a massage table or chair using warmed bamboo tools and lotion. During the seminar participants will learn to effleurage and petrissage using warm bamboo to deliver a luxurious and effective massage (relaxation or deep tissue).  The workshop is 80% hands on utilizing the bamboo tools.  The lecture portion of the training covers the history of bamboo, contraindications, marketing,

and care/cleaning of bamboo sets.

This is a 2 day 16 CEU class

Bamboo Sets and DVD’s will be available for purchase

Participants should bring a bolster or pillow, sheet set, face cradle cover, and massage lotion

Local participants should bring a massage table.

Fibromyalgia – Demystifying the Unexplained Disorder!

Nancy Parambo

Last year Nancy brought us an amazing presentation on Ethics; this year she will travel to us again with a new presentation on an old and often misunderstood disorder.

Nancy has worked in the field of chronic pain for the past 15 years as a neuromuscular therapist and more recently, has incorporated psychotherapy into her chronic pain practice.  During her graduate studies at the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine, she intensively researched and compared the etiology and treatment of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Fibromyalgia (FMS) and Irritable Bowel Syndrome.

During her presentation, the student will gain a better understanding of the chemical functions and dynamics of the brain, and how sleep patterns and stress effect the body.  She also gives the therapist a thorough overview of psychological disorders that may accompany a diagnosis of FMS.

Therapists who have taken Nancy’s class have remarked how informative the class is in helping them to understand the disorder, from not only a physiological perspective, but from a psychological perspective as well, something massage therapy education rarely touches.  Nancy goes in-depth regarding genetic and environmental variables that may contribute to the development and maintenance of FMS and she promotes a whole-body/mind teaching perspective that also looks at individual lifestyle, motivational levels and attitude.

Nancy completes her class with a review of the traditional versus alternative treatment methods used today and allows plenty of time for questions and answers. Students who have taken the class have remarked positively about Nancy’s energetic and thorough teaching style and concise teaching techniques.  This is a “must take” course for the massage therapist who seeks a deeper understanding of chronic pain conditions like FMS and treatment or for therapists who would like to learn new information about contributing factors that may lead a chronic pain condition to develop into a long-term, disabling disorder.

This is a 2 day 12 CEU class

Participants should bring 1 sheet set and bolster or pillow

Local Therapists should bring a massage table
