Wendy Forrest
Hello,
We are halfway through the summer already and gearing up for the Fall Conference. You will find information about the 2 classes we have lined up for you within this newsletter. Registration opens August 10th for the classes and there is an early bird discount as well as a hold my spot deposit opportunity. We should be up and running with an online registration by then and of course the pay pal option for credit cards. Both of these tremendous speakers are coming in from out of town and we will need to know very soon if people are interested in the classes. We do not want or like to cancel classes but we will if necessary so as not to get the speakers tied up and us over committed with your funds. So please at least get a deposit in if you are coming. If you have not been planning for it we are also midway between the 2 year state licensure. You will need 12 or 24 hours of CEs and your CPR certification by the end of August 2012. Our 2012 CE schedule is almost finalized and will be released soon. We are looking at AIS Upper Body, Pediatric Massage, Nerve Facilitation, TMJ and Cervical Assessment and Treatment and others. Don’t wait until the last minute and get stuck taking and paying for classes you don’t want.
We are working on updating our website and our social media capabilities, and are very much in need of a Social Media Chair to help this all run smoothly. If you are interested please contact me.
I also wanted to let you know we have t-shirts for sale with a new logo designed specifically for our state. They are $15.00 each and very cool. Let me know if you would like one via phone or e-mail.
Enjoy the rest of your summer!
Namaste,
Wendy

AMTA DE CHAPTER DELEGATE
Submitted by Christine Eckery
Voting on the 2011 AMTA Position Statements – the AMTA Delaware Chapter’s Position
Hello to Everyone! My name is Christine Eckery. I am the current AMTA Delaware Chapter Delegate and will be representing the Delaware Chapter’s position at this year’s AMTA National Convention.
I need your input! I’ve worked with our Delaware Chapter Massage Board to create an opinion on the current AMTA Position Statements. Here’s what we think:
Your AMTA DE Board fully supports massage therapy as an important adjunct to medical and psychological practices; however, we do not feel that an appropriate level of professionalism has been established with the current AMTA Position Statements.
You can find a copy of our opinion below, HOWEVER, we need your input before I present our position to the National Delegation.
Here’s what I need –
1. Please review the AMTA Position Statements
You can find the AMTA Position statements in the e-mail I sent earlier OR you can find the Position Statements @ http://www.amtamassage.org/positionintro/2011-Position-Statement-Proposals.html.
2. Figure out what you think about the AMTA’s current Position Statements.
3. Review the AMTA DE position on the AMTA Position Statements. Here’s what we’re thinking:
We the Board of the Delaware Chapter of the AMTA RECOMMEND AGAINST the 2011 AMTA Position Statements, as currently constituted, in their entirety, for the 2011 National Session. While the AMTA positions, in general terms, are laudable, the Delaware Chapter of the AMTA advances that the current position statements can not be endorsed for the following reasons, namely, the current AMTA Position Statements are (a) excessively broad, (b) are substantiated with insufficient use of professional and journaled clinical and medical research, (c) are expressed with insufficient appreciation of the complexity of the conditions represented including the clinical risks associated with the various stages of those conditions, and (d) are presented with insufficient consideration for the medical and psychological professional fields with whom we as professional licensed massage therapists wish to ally.
The DE Chapter is focused on creating strong alliances with allopathic and homeopathic practitioners and is therefore intent on positioning our massage practitioners as respected providers of adjunct and complementary practices. As such, the Delaware Chapter of the AMTA takes the position that the Licensed Massage Profession needs to better corroborate their positions with established medical and psychological research and practices so that we are better positioned to be collaborative healthcare providers.
4. LET US KNOW WHAT YOU THINK! We Value YOUR FEEDBACK and Want to Hear from you Before I go to the National Convention. You can send your feedback to me @ christine@acalmingmoment.com.
Thanks for your help and your input! I’m excited to represent DE at the National Convention.
Best regards & Thanks,
Christine

Seeking Serenity
Various Artists
2003
A master flutist and acclaimed New Age composer, Nicholas Gunn is the man behind Gemini Sun Records, whose intensely capable roster of musical artists includes Australian New Age composer Mars Lasar, Loren Gold, and Nicholas' wife Cheryl Gunn, a talented classical pianist who accompanies him and also has her own solo tracks onSeeking Serenity. The mellow, lilting, quiet, yet subtly adventurous and emotionally rich music benefits from fine production and an unhurried sense of majesty and comfortable quietude. With touches of ambient nature and occasional moments of Native American flavors and tribal percussion (as in Gunn's 'Return to Grand Canyon'), Seeking Serenity includes just enough variation to keep the album from drifting away, but it won't suddenly jar you from a late afternoon low-tide nap.
Gunn opens with the title track, which vaguely recalls the score from some long-ago Irish romance with its gentle flute work and slow classical tempo. Mars Lasar's 'Inseparable Universe' makes soothing use of nature sounds and a gentle tick-tock melody under moody ehru violins and a gorgeous rush of exotic female vocal samples. Loren Gold plays a beautifully restrained piano for 'Searching,' over just a few tasteful touches of flute and synth strings. Less is more, sometimes, and the artists on Seeking Serenity know just when that is. Closing the mix is Cheryl Gunn's melancholically warm 'Beyond the Blue,' which flows with cascades of synthesizer and piano rain clouds, gradually opening up to accents of distant thunder drums and a cold-bones-warm-sweater feeling of holding hands along windswept Celtic coastlines.
The whole of Seeking Serenity is remarkably focused and accomplished for being, tracks culled from a group of incredibly accomplished musicians on intrepid forays into the fields of meditation and relaxation. There's a vastness of scope as well as a humane gentleness that makes these songs as personal and intimate as a night on the beach with a few friends and fire, and as broad and panoramic as a hang glider view of New Guinea. Solid and gratifying,Seeking Serenity is a worthwhile way to go through life. With the help of Nicolas Gunn and friends, you might even find your way.
